New kicks

Picked up a new pair of running shoes on Black Friday from Sportsmart.

Original price is $89 but I walked out the store for just over $27, schwing!

The short review
Obviously I’ve only had the shoes for a couple of days. So far only logged around 8 miles running distance so I’m not sure that the shoes are even broken in yet.

The good, really happy with the foot support and overall comfort of the shoe. Light and airy, the mesh over the top and sides work really well at allowing air to flow through without giving up strength and stability. The gel cushion is a huge improvement or maybe just having new shoes after 5 years is the huge improvement.

The bad, this is the biggest deal breaker. The first day I took the shoes for a spin I got the worst blister. My arch seems to be rubbing the arch support/area of the shoe insert near the front. I’ve switched the insert from the new pair with the insert from my old pair, which were still in good shape. This helped for a short run on Sunday but I’m not positive its a fix yet since my foot is still screwed up from Saturday.

Aside from the blister I’m very pleased with the new shoes. If I had prepared my foot and the shoes better before going right out and running a long distance I think I may have been able to avoid the blister.
