Loopt, Twitter and iPhone

New tech stuff added to the ye-old-blog. Now you can follow the minute by minute exploits of your favorite blogger… yep thats me.

I have not yet posted a review of my new iPhone 3G, that is for another post in a few days or a week or whatever… this post is all about Loopt and Twitter on the iPhone.

Lets get some of the basic questions out of the way.

What is Loopt?

Loopt shows users where friends are located and what they are doing via detailed, interactive maps on their mobile phones. Loopt helps friends connect on the fly and navigate their social lives by orienting them to people, places and events. Users can also share location updates, geo-tagged photos and comments with friends in their mobile address book or on online social networks, communities and blogs.

What is Twiiter?

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send updates (otherwise known as tweets) which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.

Since getting the iPhone the other day my buddy Vene and his wife Carol turned me on to Loopt. I thought this was quite fun and interesting but also wanted to share this info on my blog directly. This is why I now have Twitter. You might have already been asking yourself why I was using both, they seem to cover much of the same stuff, now you know.

The problem was that Loopt had no way for me to tie the updates I create with the N2 blog. Loopt could talk to Twiiter, and then my blog could talk to Twiiter.

Once I had that figured out I could then create the Twitter Updates section you now see below.
